Ryan Tian is quietly yet ambitiously carving out his path in the film industry, driven by a unique blend of passion, creativity, and an unyielding commitment to storytelling. Known for his versatility across various formats, Ryan has steadily built a reputation for himself, taking on projects that range from music videos and short films to interviews and commercials. While his talent has earned him recognition, what truly sets him apart is his relentless pursuit of stories that resonate deeply with audiences and linger long after the credits roll. His love for storytelling has led to several notable accomplishments. Ryan won BEST NJ FILMMAKER at FilmOneFest for his project “Dreamland”, where he served as Director, Cinematographer, and Editor. His commercial work has also been highly praised, including a win for Best Commercial/Promotional Video at the Top Shorts Film Festival, which he both filmed and edited. Despite these achievements, Ryan’s focus remains on the craft and the transformative power of storytelling.
“I truly enjoy creating across different mediums, whether it’s short films, music videos, or commercial content. Each format offers a unique canvas for storytelling and allows for experimentation with different creative techniques. For me, the most important thing is telling a compelling story. The form is secondary; it serves as a vehicle to bring the narrative to life. Ultimately, my focus is on finding the best way to convey the story, and the medium follows from there.”
When it comes to working with actors he has enjoyed working with a variety of actors with different levels of talent. In the process of working on a project Ryan is always looking for their creative energy and even more importantly he values collaborative process. He is always open to bouncing ideas off the artists to enhance the project before them. In 2022 he took on a new project titled Artist Talk Series whose first episode was called “Serendipity”. Since the inception of the series, he has already worked with fifteen different artists.
One of the more stand out artists he has worked with was Oscar-nominated filmmaker Bill Jersey. In addition to his work on short films, Ryan recently completed editing a feature film titled “Pandemic Trilogy”, which reflects on the challenges of the global pandemic. The film captured the will to face up against obstacles during the recent pandemic we all dealt with. It touched upon the struggles that go unnoticed.
“The writer, director, and I had a natural synergy throughout the entire creative process, and I had the privilege of serving as both the film editor and contributing to its overall vision. The editing experience was truly fantastic, and I’m thrilled that the film has been so well-received at various film festivals. It’s incredibly rewarding to see how much people resonate with the story.”

As he looks ahead, Ryan remains driven by his ambition to push the boundaries of storytelling. He is eager to explore new formats and innovative techniques that will allow him to forge deeper emotional connections with audiences. His sights are set on expanding into more feature films and larger-scale projects, with the ultimate goal of creating stories that not only captivate but also inspire viewers to see the world in new and profound ways.
