As temperatures drop, don’t let that stop you from taking your workout outdoors. Whether you’re going for a long run, a light jog or a power walk, the right gear will help keep your body warm, dry, and sometimes, even fly and fashionable.
Unless it’s raining men (in which case, please call me), the weather is seldom an excuse to avoid a little outdoor cardio. Of course extremes like severe rain, thunderstorms, ice or snow are valid reasons to not go outside, but don’t make the weather being “too cold” as an excuse to neglect your health.
Invest in a quality pair of cold-weather tights, pants, or shirt—sometimes you only need one of each—and get your run or walk on!
Tip: Already own a sweatshirt or long pants? Then work with what you’ve already got. Shop for base layers to wear beneath those items, as they will help absorb sweat and keep you dry, and therefore warm. Buying base layers alone can be a more affordable option.
