When we are looking for help in a specific area, we often search for an expert—and who better than someone who has experienced a similar issue. This would be the case when potential clients reach out to Career & Life Coach María Tomás-Keegan, who many call a master of reinvention. Her clients are more comfortable knowing that their coach has been there and done that.
María’s frequent message to her clients is to be resilient under the pressure because she has found through experience that one of the solutions was to learn to be resilient.
“The truth is no one is born knowing how to be resilient. We have role models who lead the way; without one, it’s hard to see the path for yourself.”
Many may have doubts that a life coach can turn their life around. But María has proven to be the engine that drives her clients into a more productive road down the line. She guides her clients to unlock their potential and maximize their performance while creating a foundation built on values, and designing a vision rooted in what they want for themselves in the future.
In her long tenure as a career & life coach, there have been many success stories, but one does stand out for her. A good example was one client, Kristen, who found the courage to not only enhance her career but improved her life situation. Kristen was an executive in higher education, specializing in fixing accreditation issues for several institutions. But, once she resolved their rankings, they no longer needed her services. This damaged her self-esteem, and she needed a change. So, with María’s guidance, Kristen rebounded and found a better-suited position doing what she loves.
When looking at her website (transitionandthrivewithmaria.com), it may seem that she only caters to women clients, but she also helps men. María acts as a consultant for companies that support laid-off individuals. Her focus is on positioning them for what they want next, refining their resumes, and building a strategic map to find the best opportunities. In addition, she assists in preparing for interviews, evaluating offers, and negotiating for what they deserve.
“My private practice, Transition & Thrive with María, serves women as I guide them through my comprehensive career & life coaching and mentoring programs. We start with deep self-assessments that build confidence, bring clarity, and focus on answering questions like who am I know that things have changed, what matters most, and what do I want that is different than what I have? Then, for career clients, we refine the same technical skills I mentioned for the consulting side of my business.”
To educate others on her work, María launched her own podcast, Tips for the Transition | The Career Roadmap, which is in its sixth season. Weekly, she interviews global experts and influencers about careers and personal development, relationships, leadership, problem-solving, decision-making, balance, self-care, and how to take your dreams to the next level.
The show streams live on YouTube, LinkedIn, and Facebook each Wednesday at 1 pm ET and will soon be streaming on Roku and Amazon. Plus, you can find the podcast on major podcast directories like Apple, Spotify, Google, and iHeart.
Besides the podcast she has also penned many books on assisting women to cope with change and transition. One book has stayed close to her heart titled, “Upside Down to Right Side Up ~ Turning Transition into Triumph.” This one stood out because it was inspired by a participant at one of her speaking engagements. The book focuses on some of her own upside-down moments, the stages of transition she experienced, and several client case-studies. The book ends with activities to help women get started on their transition journey.
María has been an asset to many as a career & life coach and mentor — a welcomed guiding light who leads by example.
